Frequently asked questions
What is StationBay?
StationBay is a station inventory management and training app for fire departments. Crews map every apparatus compartment, keep a shared inventory of tools and kits, and turn that inventory into study drills for probationary firefighters.
It is designed strictly for administrative, inventory, and training purposes. It is not a dispatch tool, incident command system, or life-safety application.
When is StationBay available, and on which platforms?
StationBay is coming soon to iOS and Android. If you would like to be notified at launch or want to onboard your department early, email support@stationbay.app.
How do I join my station?
Create an account with email and password, or sign in with Google or Apple. Then find your department by FDID and state and select your station. Your department's administrators grant access to department data and set your role (guest, firefighter, or admin).
How does verification work?
During verification you take a single photograph so your department's admin can confirm you belong at that station. Verification is performed by your department, not by StationBay. The photo is stored in restricted storage and is deleted once your verification is approved or rejected.
Who can see the data my crew enters?
Apparatus, inventory, photos, and training data are private to your department. StationBay is not a public community, social network, or public feed, and nothing you enter is published to the internet or to other departments.
Within your department, StationBay is a shared workspace: your display name, badge number, role, and the changes you make are visible to other authorized members and administrators. The only content that can cross departments is a global catalog template that an administrator chooses to clone.
How do I delete my account?
Use the in-app account deletion option where available, or email support@stationbay.app from the address on your account and we will delete your account and associated personal information.
Inventory, catalog, and study records may be retained by your department for operational and accountability purposes, since that data belongs to the department's records. See thePrivacy Policy for details.
Are the study questions AI-generated? Can I trust them?
Some training modules and study questions are generated using artificial intelligence from your department's apparatus and equipment specifications. AI systems can misinterpret context or produce inaccurate information, so all AI-generated study material must be independently verified against official manufacturer manuals and department SOPs before being relied upon in the field.
Study generation sends equipment and apparatus data only, never your name, email, or badge number. You can report a bad question directly from the drill screen.
How do subscriptions, billing, and refunds work?
Some features may require a paid subscription. Subscriptions are purchased and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play and renew automatically unless cancelled in your app store account settings before the end of the current period. Refunds are governed by the policies of the app store through which you purchased.
Payment card numbers are handled by the app store and are never collected or stored by StationBay.
How do I report objectionable content or block another member?
You can report objectionable content, harassment, or copyright concerns from Help & Support inside the app, or by emailing support@stationbay.app. We review every report and act within 24 hours.
You can also block another member from Help & Support, which hides their name and avatar from activity attribution on your device. Blocking does not remove department equipment records.
Which permissions does the app use?
Camera access is used for compartment, tool, and verification photos. Location is used to convert a station's street address into coordinates when an admin creates a station. You can revoke either permission at any time in your device settings, though some features may stop working.
Can I upload photos I found online for a tool?
No. You may only upload images you own or have the right to use. Stock photos, manufacturer catalog images, and photos taken by someone else without permission are prohibited. If you cannot photograph a tool yourself, leave the image field empty. See Section 7 of theTerms of Service.
